1800's STEAMPUNK SKIRT and JACKET cinnamon cotton xs S (E6)
Beautiful jacket and skirt set from the 1800's! Generally, this type of sleeve is pre-1896. Cinnamon brown jacket and matching underskirt… the ruffles on the skirt match the jacket, but originally there would have been another skirt worn over most of the skirt in the picture. The 'skirt' here would have been more like a slip that was meant to be exposed at the bottom. I do not have the original overskirt, but an earth tone calico or an ecru lacy type overskirt would be ideal. Honestly, the skirt here could actually just be worn like a maxi skirt by itself, it isn't sheer. The jacket closes with hook/eyes, there are none missing. Jacket and ruffles on the skirt are faille, maybe silk? The body of the skirt is cotton. The lace on the jacket is cotton. The ivory ruffle trim on the jacket is a delicate silk, and is shattering... may need to remove or replace the ruffles, I think they'll continue to disintegrate. The main jacket and skirt construction are sturdy and wearable, though. Fits XS/S... Please compare the measurements below with pieces you have at home that fit well. Hat listed separately. Overall great condition, especially for a 100+ year old set! As previously mentioned, the silk ruffles are falling apart, it will actually be quite easy to remove them if you choose. Picture 10 shows a smudge stain on the side of the skirt. There is a slight darkening in the underarms, you can't see it when you're wearing it. The right underarm has a touch of wear, again, doesn't show when you wear it. The shadow at the bottom of some of the pictures is NOT a flaw on the skirt, I have a crack in the bottom of my camera lens that makes it look like a shadow.
